When Frank and Josephine Redmond pitched their tent to be the first homesteaders in the area now known as Redmond I doubt they knew the future this town would hold.

Redmond although not the largest city in Central Oregon it has been the first for many things.  Redmond has since the beginning had a vision of the future.

The Redmonds’ settled the area in 1906, they had deep agricultural roots and in 1911 an irrigation company platted the city and began a major canal project.  Redmond was incorporated in 1910, with electricity and irrigation in place by 1911.  When Redmond received access to the Oregon Trunk Line Railroad, the market expanded for both the farmers and merchants of the area.

In the 1930s Redmond had grown to over 1,000 people and the population continued to grow in about a decade the population had nearly doubled.  In the 1940’s the US Air Force Base and commercial Airline service was established linking Central Oregon even more to the rest of the world.  Today Redmond features the only commercial airport in Central Oregon.

Redmond Oregon has always strived to bring the city what will make the city better; employment, lower costs of living and most importantly to many a great quality of life.
